I'm available both by appointment and by walk-in. It's encouraged that parents/guardians call for an appointment to avoid waiting or missing me because I'm in a classroom. Please reach out to Jeriann Stevenson at 435-515-4200 to schedule an appointment or send me an email. That usually works best. It's also encouraged that students sign up to see a counselor before/after school, but students may come in on a walk-in basis if in crisis, or when referred by a school staff member.
I make every effort to follow the counseling guidelines outlined in the American School Counselor Association Code of Ethics. This means I will keep the information a student shares with me confidential, unless given permission to share it, or unless I'm required by law or school policy to share it.
Examples of when I must share a students information:
When I must consult with other professionals to better help you.
When I'm required to release information by a school policy, state law, and/or the code of ethics for professional counselors.
If I believe you are at risk of harming yourself or others.
If I believe someone is trying to hurt you.
If a judge orders me to provide information in court.
If a law is broken.
If you have any questions about these privacy rules, please tell me. Your safety and welfare are our highest priorities.
